The positive aspects of optimism

Optimism is something that gets me through the hard times in my life. I think more people should be optimistic about things.
I'm tired of listening to pessimistic people complain about everything and having no good outlook on life.
Pessimistic people may say that I am setting myself up, always thinking positively. Well, I would rather take my chances of setting myself up and being heartbroken every once in awhile, than feeling broken all the time.
This year hasn't been the easiest for me, but it also hasn't been easy for a lot of people. The thing I worried about most during this past year was that I would eventually lose my faith because of the never ending complications. It was hard to stay optimistic, but because I did, I am getting through all these hard times.
If things aren't looking your way right now, I believe you need to make the best of things as much as you can. Now isn't the time to sit and mope. Now is the time to enjoy everything you have.
It's easy to be optimistic and focus on the good in life when things are actually going you're way. The real challenge is staying positive when things aren't looking up. When things get tough, and you feel there is no way out, that's when it really counts to stay positive and focus on what you can do to make things better.
At times this year, I thought praying was a waste of time, but then I realized that sometimes, things will go wrong, and praying really helped me stay strong.
Sometimes, you may feel helpless and weak, but the Lord will never give you more than you can handle.
Maybe some of you aren't religious and that's okay. That doesn't mean you can't try and look on the positive side of things. Try and focus on the good and what you can do to make things better for you and others.
The confusing part about our struggles in life is the never-ending question, why do bad things happen to good people?
I can't answer this question for anybody, even though I wish with everything I have, that I could. I guess maybe the Lord has something planned that we just don't understand sometimes. Maybe, we will never understand.
If you are struggling today, I ask that you try and look optimistically at things. I really hope that you can stay strong. No matter how hard it may be, do the best you can in living each day to the fullest.
