I had plans to write my column as a sort of good bye, but I have experienced a lot over my short break.

I hate when it is too late to go back and change the past.

I have never been around my mom's side of the family, but I do have some childhood memories.

My grandmother spent Thanksgiving in the hospital. She has developed many medical problems in her past. Due to that, surgery is no longer an option, although it may be the only way to save her.

This leads me to my little too late point. I have spent a lot of the break visiting her and working. I thought it would be easy visiting her. I went because I know my mom would need someone there.

I walked into the room and something hit me. Was it the look in her eyes as she watched me or her eagerness to chat with me?

I don't know, but there was something that hit me. Should I have tried harder to have a relationship or would there still not have been much of a chance? It kept running through my head.

Either way it's too late to change the past. Even though we didn't spend every hour together, there is still a connection.

I also know that she doesn't have anybody around right now and she needs someone, so I want to help and take that spot.

We all know that she doesn't have that much longer and we can't change the past, so why not let her leave knowing the whole time she has always been loved.

That is what I plan to do. It's best for everyone I think.

Have faith and live each day like it's your last. Let everyone around you know you love them because you can't change the past.

Also, I want to tell everyone to have a good Christmas break along with a great semester next year. This is my last semester and I am very excited that Danita was able to give me the chance to experience being a reporter.

Good Luck to everyone!
