In 2002 Stacy Cofer initiated the Butler Foundation's Faculty and Staff Campus Drive. Currently she is the Chief Advancement Officer of the foundation.
The Butler Foundation works to assist Butler students through scholarship and other monetary means while they are attending BCC.
"The Butler Foundation provides scholarship support as well as support through the Student Emergency Fund," Director of Development Keri Myers said. "We can offer different assistance to students beyond tuition and books."
The annual Faculty and Staff Campus Drive takes place every fall. It gives staff and faculty members the opportunity to donate a charitable amount to the school and its students.
"Faculty and staff are the ones who know Butler the best and are often our strongest supporters," Myers said.
Donations can be made as a one time gift or as a monthly payroll deduction. In a time of economic deprivation giving may slip the minds of many. Myers believes that it provides more of a reason to donate.
"I think we're all watching our dollars a little more closely," Myers said. "But I also think it has made us more aware of those in need."
The Campus Drive has many different giving levels. No matter what the amount, each donation is greatly appreciated and rewarded with some sort of incentive. Although incentives are given, Myer believes that those who donate do so because they hope to see the students succeed with the means they are provided with.
"We have the annual campus drive each year to generate support for the foundation," Myers said. "It is an opportunity to suport the students."
