While everyone prepares for the holidays, many prepare to spread their holiday cheer.
Butler Dance team and Choir put on a show to brighten holiday spirits. There was singing, dancing, the funny skits and of course the best of the newer and older Christmas classics.
Practices for the Dance Team to learn their choreography started six weeks ago. Now, the week of the final performances, practices and rehearsals fill everyone's busy schedules to make their performance a perfect one.
Even with the tough schedules and the tiring days, Kathy Kelley, Maize, KS sophomore, says the turn out is worth it.
"All of us are pretty nervous, but the turn out will be very very good." Kelley said.
Not only did the performers have the confidence, so did the coaches.
"I think at the end of rehearsal it will be spectacular," Lead Dance Instructor Kris Anderson said.
This was a Christmas performance that was sure to catch your attention. Opening night was Friday and the show was planned to be "Very energetic and very entertaining."
Kelley said, "We got to have a lot of say in it. It's a lot of our ideas," speaking of the thing she enjoyed the most about this performance.
This Christmas show was expected to be nothing like the others. Besides the music and dance, choices being influenced by the performers instead of just the staff. A lot of the choices for the music are ones that maybe people know but have forgotten about or haven't heard in awhile and the dance moves are certainly original. This is definitely a show that will be enjoyed.
"There's new music. We tried to find things that people haven't listened to in awhile but yet is still holiday music," Anderson said, speaking of how the show is expected to be different from the years before and other shows.
Opening Night for the Butler Christmas Performance was Friday, Dec. 4th with a second showing on Saturday, Dec. 5th. The show began promptly at 7:30 p.m.
