The Butler women's basketball team traveled to Iola to play Allen County Community College. Butler lost twice last year to Allen, both of them close games, but the Grizzlies went into this contest with some thought of revenge on their minds. The Grizzlies took an early lead on the Red Devils, leading 10-4 only two minutes into the ballgame, but that's when Allen took control.
The Red Devils took a ten point lead halfway through the first half and looked like they were going to run away with the game.
The Grizzlies were falling apart again, just like they did over the weekend when they lost both of those games in Kansas City. And they went into halftime of this one trailing by six points.
The second half started off bad for the ladies, getting down by as much as 13, 52-39, but Head Coach Mike Helmer called a timeout. And he must have said some good things because the Grizzlies took control from then on and came flying back and outscored the Red Devils 33 to 17 to end the ballgame and ended up winning 72-69. Abby Fawcett, Wichita freshman, led the way for the Grizzlies with 22 points.
Butler has made a habit of winning in dramatic fashion and did the same thing in this one with a dramatic comeback to win. The team went to 4-4 on the season.
