The 43rd Annual Country Music Awards took place on Nov. 11 at the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN. ABC aired this event live at 7 p.m.
The Country Music Awards were hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley.
The two opened by performing some skits that had the crowd laughing along with CMA viewers at home.
There were 22 performers that took the stage. These included nominees Brooks and Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Brad Praisley, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride. Other nominees that were able to perform were Keith Urban, Billy Currington, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band and Jamey Johnson. Other artists that took place in this event were Kid Rock, Vince Gill, Tim McGraw, Dave Matthews, Jason Aldean and Daughtry.
"The performers were good, but Taylor Swift shouldn't have won entertainer of the year," Laura Titus, Virgil freshman said.
There were also many people who took place in presenting these awards. Some were Robin Roberts, LeAnn Rimes, Kellie Pickler, Julianne Hough, NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Neil Flynn and Patrica Heaton off "The Middle." Nominees Randy Houser and Jake Owen were able to present awards at the CMA's as well.
There were many awards to many new faces of country music.
Taylor Swift is now the youngest winner of Entertainer of the Year, although some say she does not deserve it.
"Taylor won too much. I think it was too early for her to win Entertainer of the Year," Tera Titus, Virgil freshman, said.
Brooks and Dunn performed their last performance before the tour they will begin doing in 2010, which is also going to be a last for the duo.
Brooks and Dunn won the Vocal Duo for 16 years in a row and came to take home a seventeenth award for Vocal Duo of the year, but Sugarland made a suprise attack and won the trophy.
Also a new face, Darius Rucker, was excited about being accepted and coming into the CMA's with two nominations and taking home a trophy for New Artist of the Year.
Overall, the Country Music Awards went well. Everyone laughed, saw many new faces and once again had great hosts that knew how to entertain and sing.
