Outdoor track season stars
Butler's outdoor track season started great for the women in the Southwestern Invitational in Winfield March 13.
Chealesa Hayes led the way for the women with two first places, and a second place finish in the meet. Hayes won the 200 meter and the 400 meet runs with a school record in the 200, with a mark of 25.22. Hayes had a second place finish in the long jump.
Ali Haffner took a second place in the 400-meter hurdles, as Jesika Haukap was also second in the javelin, and Catherine Becker right behind with third place.
The women qualified Christina Addison and Holly Poe in the 10,000 meters and Haffner and Haukap for the national meet later in the season.
The men qualified one for the national meet, as Felix Roman placed third in the javelin with a throw of 178-4 feet.
Calvin Wilson took second in the long jump with a 12th place finish in the 100 meters, as Raymond Cason finish right behind Wilson in the long jump. Carson took third in the triple jump.
Butler had one more to place in multiple events in Jacory Williams, with a fifth place in the 200 meters and 13th in the 400 meter.
Jake Orndorff brought Butler a second place finish in the 10,000 meters with Kipp Schuler right behind him in third.
