One of my best friends lives in Florida, but the brightest thing there is by far, not the sun! I would have to say it is her personality!
In order to get the full picture, you would just have to know her. She dances to her own beat to say the least. She's tall as can be, and I have always "looked up" at her, literally, even though she is a year younger!
The last time I saw her, her hair was a pretty black that stopped just before it hit her neck. I say "last time" because her hair seems to change often! And across her back, a tattoo of the most beautiful angel wings, a symbol she holds near and dear.
At first glance, it would be easy to take her appearance the wrong way. In the world we live in, people often misjudge others without even giving them the chance to show their true personality. By this, I mean who we are as individuals, on the inside. It's not always what we see that counts.
If you got to know my friend, you would soon discover that she has a heart of gold, is a sucker for things that are "cute' and is a good friend. And like all people, she makes mistakes. Seeing as how we are teenagers, we make our fair share. She is stubborn, and changes as often as her hair. But behind it all, there is a whole lot of love. And even though she plays tough, somewhere in there, there is a soft part that if you try hard enough, you can find.
I have often heard the saying, that friends are the family we choose. It's a saying that I believe with all of my heart. And I also believe that it's from those friends that we learn a great deal of lessons.
From my friend in Florida, the lesson she has taught me is great. It's a hard lesson to learn, but sometimes we have to learn how to break free of the cookie-cutter lifestyle we are brought up to believe. And furthermore, don't judge anyone at first glance. In order to get to know someone, you must look deep. That is where best friends are found.
