Halloween was a big day for Butler's El Dorado campus. Many activities were scheduled throughout the day. Also, people not only saw children dressed up for the holiday, but many students dressed up for some various costume contests.
One activity that this story is about was the Halloweenie Roast which included a remote broadcast provided by the campus radio station, KBTL (88.1).
KBTL held their broadcast from 12 p.m.-3 p.m. on wednesday, Oct. 31. It was held at the Bare Necessities. A couple of the DJs that were a part of the broadcast include Kurt Zimmerman, Goddard, sophomore and Laurel Lewis, Wichita, freshman.
The promotion was set up by Brittany Murphy, Augusta freshman.
"She has done an excellent job of putting together the different parts to make a memorable party," Lance Hays, Director of Radio, Television and Film, said.
Along with the broadcast, KBTL sponsored a costume contest and hotdog eating contest. They also sponsored Karoake. Free food was provided at the event. Many prizes were given out to the winners of the contests. A few of the prizes included Best Buy coupons, CDs and several coupons from different vendors such as Pizza Hut.
According to a source, John Giffin, El Dorado, sophomore, was the person to beat when it came to the hotdog eating contest.
"I think the broadcast went really well," Alex Schneider, Rosehill freshman, said. "The fact of having a hotdog eating contest, costume contest and listening to the campus DJs perform live was enough for anyone to come."
