Battle for the top
Lady Grizzlies soccer hosted another ranked opponent. Johnson County, ranked 10th, came to town Oct 6.
This game was a battle for the top of the Jayhawk Conference. The Lady Grizzlies came into the game tied with Johnson County at 5-0.
Someone had to fall from the top and unfortunately it was Butler. The Lady Grizzlies fell 1-0.
As their were many balls that bounced off the crossbar and goal post, the Butler fans held there breath. The Lady Grizzlies kept the game tied at half 0-0.
The only goal of the game came from Emily Leeper, of Johnson County, off a corner kick. The ball bounced off the goal post and into the back of the net, as Johnson County scored in the 71st minute.
the Lady Grizzlies defense played well, as most of the game was played on the defensive side for Butler.
Coach Adam Hunter said, "Our offense was not good at all, they did not come to the ball."
The game was kept close by the defensive play, as Butler made many bad passes.
Butler is looking to bounce back in conference play as Independence comes to Butler on Oct 16th.
Butler now drops to 9-4-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play on the year.
