Over the summer I had the privilege to watch many of the newly released movies. These are my top five favorites:
1. "Shrek The Third"
The plot of this one wasn't as fantastic as the first "Shrek" however it's hard to beat the disgusting habits and humor of the first. Although it wasn't as good, it was still a very funny movie about Shrek's fear of having children and his ability to be a good father.
2. "The Simpson's Movie"
"The Simpon's Movie" was very surprising. The commercials for it didn't give it justice. Most of the humorous parts were overplayed on t.v. but it had an amazing plot. Homer messes up as usual and dooms everyone in the town because of pollution causing animals to mutate and reek havoc everyone.
3. "Knocked Up"
There was way too much hype over this movie. It wasn't as funny as the commercial's advertised it would be but it still had some great moments. "Knocked Up" had a good plot yet it was slightly over played. Ben Stone who centers his life around marijuana has a one night stand with Alison, a high class behind the scenes worker for E!. Alison gets pregnant and they both have to grow up very quickly.
4. "Transformers"
This movie was actually very surprising. "Transformers" was about a teenage boy who has his heart set on being popular and having a vehicle. He buys a car that he later on finds out is a transformer and he has to help all of the Autobots save the world. There's great action but not enough about the robots. It was more about the main character and his challenges getting the popular girl to like him.
5. "License to Wed"
This movie is not one of Robin William's best. However it's still a great movie about a couple who is determined to get married in the church the bride grew up in. The pastor has told them that he will not marry them until they have passed the marriage class. This movie had a well thought out story line, but the majority of the humorous parts were over played in commercials.
