The Lady Grizzlies travled to Koch Arena in Wichita March 10 for the Region VI Quarterfinal against the Cowley County Lady Tigers.
Lakeisha Levi, Warner Robins, GA freshman, kept the Grizzlies' playoff hopes alive with a 21 point, 13 board double-double. This was one of several outstanding performances for the young Grizzlies team who took out the tough Lady Tigers 61-57.
Levi's performance in the playoffs was awarded with a spot on the all-tourney team.
It was a physical game all the way through, as the Grizzlies got the ball into the low post for Levi time and time again, and Levi took full advantage despite getting double and even triple teamed in the block.
The Grizzlies ended up shooting a fabulous 31 free throw attempts and knocked down 77 percent of them.
Butler had four players in double digits, as Megan Cherry, Durango, CO. freshman, struggled early on but contributed a nice second half to total 13 points.
Danae Stuckey, Kansas City freshman, contributed a double double with 11 points and ten boards. Kelsey Van Sickle, Emporia sophomore, also chipped in ten points as the
Grizzlies trek through the playoffs continued.
