The Lady Grizzlies volleyball team is enduring trial by fire but someone turned up the oven a bit too fast - too soon. Coach Rick Younger and the Grizzlies traveled to Columbus, NE for the Subway Classic over the weekend of Sept. 9-10.
This tournament was different in that only two victorious sets were needed instead of the usual three.
Butler played five games and though they played resiliently they came away with two wins and three losses.
Butler had losses to Northeastern 16-30, 16-30, Iowa Western 12-30, 20-30, and Central Nebraska 20-30, 24-30.
Butler did pull out the first and third matches of the tourney against Eastern Wyoming 30-26, 30-22 and Southeastern 30-22, 33-11.
Butler played against Cowley on Tuesday, Sept. 12 and lost in four sets 30-28, 30-15, 30-17 and 30-8.
Butler also took on Cloud on Wednesday, Sept. 13 losing in four sets 30-23, 20-30, 28-30 and 23-30.
The Grizzlies took on Labette on Friday, Sept. 15. You can read the results in next weeks Lantern.
