After blanking Kilgore, Texas last week the Butler defense continued their trend of dominance against a Broncbusters team that defeated #2 ranked Trinity Valley last week.
Coach Troy Morrell's Grizzlies came away with an overpowering perfomance to take their second win of the season by the score of 29-7.
Paul Eck, Andale sophomore, led the way for the Grizzlies with three passing touchdowns and 330 yards through the air.
Butler's running department only accounted for 50 yards rushing, but all of those were highly effective yards, mostly by redshirted freshman Brandon Barnett from Texarkana, AR, who had the Grizzlies' lone rushing score.
Coach Morrell is happy with Barnett's play thus far.
"He's getting more comfortable, being a redshirt freshman it takes a little bit to get back to old form after being out for a season."
The Grizzlies had several small flaws in special teams, however, as Joe Paletta, Derby sophomore, and Ryan Stimatze, Garden City freshman, struggled in the kicking department
Paletta missed the extra point on the Barnett rushing touchdown in the first quarter and Stimatze dropped a snap for a punt deep in Grizzlies' territory. Garden City capatalized on the play with the lone score Butler has allowed all season long.
Paletta has been blocked on an extra point try in back to back games and is 5-7 on the season.
But the best offense is a good defense and with the Grizzlies defense averaging an amazing 3.5 points allowed per game things are looking very good for the #2 ranked Grizzlies who took over Trinity Valleys spot in the KJCCC polls.
