One of the most important art societies of the Wichita area, the Wichita Women Artists, is bring its art exhibit to El Dorado's own Coutts Museum of Art.
The exhibit opened the first of Sept. and will stay open until Sept. 27th. This is the second exhibit for the Wichita Women Artists in The COUTTS Museum of Art. They brought an exhibition about four years ago and brought a large turnout to the museum.
There are 33 works in the exhibit, ranging from floral studies to sculptures.
"The quality of the artwork is really good," Terri Scott, Co-Director, said.
The group has shared a long and generous history with the Wichita area. The group used their creative energy to bring together Women Artists in the area. They first organized in 1950 as the "Painting of the Month Club." The group made it possible for women artists in the Wichita area to gain more publicity.
The group has a selective membership and represents some of the best artists in the Wichita area. They are currently limited to 35 members. It is open to honorary or lifetime members and also, inactive members.
They represent the life of working artists. They put on three to four exhibits a year, produce art, judge shows, teach workshops, and are members of several other organizations.
