The Butler Grizzly cross-country team competed in the second meet of the season on Saturday at Rim Rock located in Lawrence. Rim Rock is one of the most difficult courses that the Grizzlies will face this season. Both the men and women were able to compete well on Saturday.
"I thought our runners raced very, very well," said head coach Kirk Hunter.
Both the men's and women's teams competed against some of the best Big 12 cross-country programs in the conference such as the University of Kansas and Kansas State University.
The women placed sixth overall with 128 points in the meet even though some of their best runners did not compete.
Maggie Kimani, Kenya sophomore, placed 10th and finished at 23:30. Christina Addison, Valley Center freshman, also did very well placing 27th with a time of 25:07.
The men competed extremely well placing fourth overall with 118 points. Stephen Gicharu, Hutchinson sophomore, placed seventh overall with a time of 26:32. Jay Lindal, Clearwater sophomore, placed 20th, finishing at 26:32.
The Butler Grizzlies next meet will be the University of Nebraska Invite in Lincoln, Neb. on Sep. 16th.
