The Butler Lady Grizzly softball team completed a four game sweep over four different teams in the TRYC Challenge in Wichita this last weekend.
With the four wins over the weekend, the Lady Grizzlies improved their record to 19-12 this season.
On April 9th, The Lady grizzlies took care of business in a 6-0 victory over the Highland Scotties.
During the nightcap, Butler defeated Johnson County 2-1 after losing to them 4-0 earlier in the season.
The next day the Lady Grizzlies had no trouble what so ever in defeating Fort Scott 17-1 and pounding Allen County 30-6 after the game was called after five innings.
The softball team has been doing well as of late to keep up with the success of the men's baseball team.
The Lady Grizzlies won seven out of their last ten games and have moved past Seward County for first place in the Jayhawk Western Division.
The Lady Grizzlies just came off a two-game sweep of Hutchinson, winning 3-0 and 4-2.
Butler has been able to hold its own this season, largely in part of first year head coach Doug Chance.
He has quickly made a difference as the team continues to do well.
Even some of the players have vastly improved their game as the season has progressed.
Syndee Scribner, El Dorado freshman, leads the division with a .441 batting average with 41 hits and six home-runs.
Shayna Duncan, Mulvane freshman, has the second lowest ERA in the conference, giving up just 1.37 runs in 91 innings pitched this year. She also has an 8-7 record with 43 strike-outs.
Finally, Jenna Harmison, White City freshman, leads the team with eight home-runs and cool .376 batting average.
With the season coming to an end, the softball team looks to position themself for a good post-season run.
