With a $300,000 student loan at his disposal, Jim Mondanaro had a decision to make: finish his education and possibly attend law school. Or not. He chose the latter, and so emerged Mondo's in Ames, his first restaurant.
He didn't always plan to be a restaurant owner, but after opening up the restaurant in the early 1970s, his life plan ostensibly unraveled before him.
